Looming Low Announcement

Just received news that my novelette “The Sound of Black Dissects the Sun” will be part of Looming Low, the first Dim Shores anthology, edited by Sam Cowan and Justin Steele.

The rest of the lineup I’ve seen so far, writers making their own announcements on Facebook and Twitter, looks amazing. I’ll have more news about this soon, including a full table of contents.

I’m very excited to be part of what looks to be a great book, and thank Sam and Justin for the opportunity.

Ten Authors Recommended by Laird Barron

It’s great to see Laird Barron, certainly one of my favorite writers, recommending some recent books he considers worthy of attention. Even better to see myself listed among them!

Authors to Read (Part I)

Many of the writers I’ve see Laird recommend over the years have ended up becoming some of my own favorites. Though all the names on this latest list are known to me, there are a couple whose work I haven’t read, so I’ll have to remedy that. My thanks to Laird for the endorsement.

Release Day for Hieroglyphs of Blood and Bone

I don’t have too much to add to yesterday’s post, which included all the links to preorder HIEROGLYPHS OF BLOOD AND BONE from Amazon or from Journalstone, or even to check it out on Goodreads.com.

But today is release day, so the links in yesterday’s post no longer allow you merely to preorder the book, but to actually order it for real! In fact, if you buy the Kindle version, you should be able to download it immediately.

My thanks to Journalstone, in particular Publisher Christopher Payne and Editor John Palisano, for making this happen!

The Madness of Dr. Caligari is Here

The Madness of Dr. Caligari is here! This tribute to the classic work of German Expressionist cinema The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari was edited by Joseph S. Pulver Sr. and features stories by many of the best and most interesting writers working in the genres of Horror and the Weird. It was released just before the holidays and seems to have been slightly overlooked, though I expect most of the people interested in this sort of thing will certainly find their way to a book like this, even if not on day one.

2016 in Summary

In the late part of the year, I haven’t been blogging as much due to distractions relating to preparing a house to sell, then actually selling it, buying another, and preparing to move a mountain of stuff (and what remains after months of purging, cleaning and culling is still a mountain). In just a few days we’ll be moved into our new place in North Portland, after more than a decade spent in outer SE, and it will be a very good thing.

Here is a summary of my 2016 publications:

BOOKS

My debut collection The Lure of Devouring Light was published by Word Horde.

Griffin-Lure-Cover

My novella An Ideal Retreat was published by Dim Shores.
